Names that appear in the records, disappear, and come back — never in continuous use, and never quite gone either. A gap can mean nobody was given the name that decade, or that too few were for it to be published; both say the same thing about how rare it has always been.
Every name here is placed by how its recent years in the birth records compare with its
earlier ones — so the list moves as the records do.
