Persian Names

Persian supplied the courtly and administrative vocabulary of a vast area for centuries, from the Ottoman lands to Mughal India. That reach is why Persian names turn up in Punjabi, Urdu and Turkish families with no Iranian connection at all — the word travelled with the administration.
