Germanic Names

Old Germanic names are compounds, and the parts are almost always about war, protection, glory or wealth — a naming culture describing what it wanted a child to be. The elements were mixed and matched so freely that many combinations are more sound than sense, which is why a literal reading can produce something no parent ever intended.
